Iglesia De La Vera Cruz Y Casa Parroquial

At the beginning of the 1800-century there was a rumor about an abode-brick-house that was supposed to belong to Pedro de Valdivia.
The business manager from Spain, Salvador de Tavira, decided on 1847 to build a church to Pedro de Valdivia and choose this place.
On October of 1852 they started its construction with Santiago city hall support.
The arquitect was Claudio Brunet de Baines. After his death the Chilean arquitect Fermín Vivaceta continued his work.
The church was founded-unfinished- on 1855 and was concluded in 1857.The front is peaceful and balanced with a Roman and Renaissance style. The two houses next to the church are part of the old house.
The King of Spain donated the Jesus Christ inside on the 16 century.

Plaza Mulato Gil y Museos view

The Mulato Gil Square, today is a very known place by intellectuals. It has restaurants and two museums, the Santiago Archeology museum (Museo Arqueológico de Santiago) y and Visual Arts museum (Museo de Artes Visuales).
It was named in honor to the remarkable Peruvian Pinter mulato Gil de Castro. This Pinter lived in the house that today contains the Santiago Archeology museum.
Visual Arts museum is private and has a beautiful collection of books, magazines, maps and historical archives that date up to 1500 years ago.

The beauty is Art or the Art is beauty!!
Whatever. These concepts are built through imagination, talent, hands,metals and colour of the artist.This union between art and beauty represent the Museo Bellas Artes.
The building was start in 1905 and was found September 21 of 1910. The construction started in 100 years old Independence Day commemoration. The chilean architect Emilio Jécquier wanted to give a classic style to the building .
This palace is the symbol of culture, art and history of our city. For all these reasons this museum it is a part of our patrimony.

The Art through the music is also a form of expression. In the Casa Velasco, the “tertulias” (a people social reunion) including conversation besides musical session, generally with “clavecin” and guitar. All the Casa Velasco owners families had many political, social and economic influence during “colonia” period. This house was built by the end of the XVIII century. Actually it is propriety of CORFO, a governmental office.

If we speak of history, culture and beauty the Iglesia Santo Domingo has all the ingredients necessary to watching it with atention! Its origin construction dates from 1557. Since the day it was finish many earthquakes (three in total) destroyed the building. The actuality church was found in 1771. Joaquín Toesca was the architect that finished this last reconstruccion.

If you look closely you can see that all buildings of this journey are part of our country cultural patrimony. They have many years old. They are part of the older city center and all are protected.
